Dragons’ Den judge launches school entrepreneur comp
|

|
Businessman and Dragons’ Den judge Sean Gallagher has launched a new competition aimed at encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs.
“Generation Next” invites third-level students to submit their ideas on how to introduce entrepreneurship as a subject in primary-school classrooms.
Well known entrepreneur Sean Gallagher is ambassador for the 'Generation Next' competition.
There will be three winning entries in the competition: winner in the “lesson” category, winner in the “teaching aid/tool” category, and the “Grand prix” winner – one of the category winners will be chosen as the overall winner of Generation Next.
Winners in the Lesson Category and the Teaching Aid/Tool category will each receive an Apple iPad. while the Grand Prix winner will receive a cash prize of €1,000.
Entries can be based around the idea of a website, a series of animated drawings, or a toolkit with games and role-plays for primary-school children, to give some examples. Entries should focus on enterprise education.
Speaking at the launch, Sean Gallagher said: “This is a great initiative to get young people – both students at third level and children in primary schools – more interested in, and aware of, the role of enterprise and entrepreneurship in Irish society.”
Students have until Friday, 8 April 2011 to come up with ideas for Generation Next. The competition will culminate in an awards ceremony in late April 2011.
Generation Next has been developed by the South-East Regional Authority (SERA). It is part of the SERA’s involvement in the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategies (YES) project which is part funded by the EU.
The competition is also supported by the nationwide network of County and City Enterprise Boards (CEBs).
Further information and full guidelines are available at www.generationnext.ie. |
