I am 52 and married. I left Ireland for London at 18 and worked as a trainee accountant in London. After three years I decided to go into business. My first venture was in the bar trade which was a success until the early eighties when the recession hit. I retrieved the situation by raffling everything for €10 a ticket. This was successful and enabled me to take time out to travel for two years. When I returned I opened a chain of stores involved in the video rental business. I developed this business and at the same time developed a property portfolio. Turnover reached over 6 million at its peak. I developed a wholesale company which covered Ireland. I set up a company in Hong Kong to import goods directly. In 2007 turnover was 26 million stg into the UK market. I am currently looking for investment opportunities as an individual investor. I would have a wealth of experience for any young entrepreneur and would have no problem being involved in an advisory or hands on role.
